Former Kogi West Senator and 2023 PDP governorship candidate, Dino Melaye, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a statement posted on X, Melaye criticized the PDP, declaring it “impotent” and lacking the capacity to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Melaye, a prominent and outspoken politician, accused the PDP leadership of internal disarray and failing to provide a credible opposition platform.
“Nigerians are tired of hunger and insecurity, and they see ADC as a viable alternative,” he stated, announcing his defection to the ADC-led coalition.
This move follows a wave of high-profile defections from the PDP, as the ADC gains momentum as an opposition force aiming to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s APC in 2027.
