Former Adamawa State CAN Chairman and the Presiding Bishop of Overcomers Faith Assembly in a correspondent chat in Tel-Aviv, Israel said the people of Adamawa State should stop exacerbating the farmers /herdsmen crises in Numan.
His Lordship, Rt. Rev Dr. Mike Moses who is presently in the Holy City (Jerusalem) on pilgrimage, the Bishop spoke extensively on the recent happenings in Adamawa State. He maintains that one of his Primary duties in the Holy Land is to pray for the peace in Adamawa State, taking into cognizance the recent challenge between farmers and the Fulani herdsmen in Numan area, the killings in Galtum, Bakari Guso in Ganye LGA, and the Mubi situation where a dozen people are feared dead following an explosion in a mosque.
According to him, we need God’s intervention so that order can be restored. The situations are sensitive, if they are not handled prayerfully and systematically, they will aggravate and thus lead to more lost of lives and property.
Speaking on the Numan crises, the former can chairman said, “this is not the first time we are experiencing such crises in Adamawa State”, however, “stakeholders; Muslim / Christian Clerics and State government officials under the Bindow administration, intervened into the matters and peace was forestalled in the regions”, which he claimed is the primary responsibility of the government.
“some people are trying to politicize the situation by making reference to the crises of Mambila Plateau where Fulani where attacked. Please don’t exacerbate conflict by politicizing the farmers / herdsmen crises in Numan”, he wept. “Lets deal with the Adamawa State problem independently from the Taraba scenario in order to avoid heating the polity”.
The Bishop said he agreed with his Clergy counterpart, the Adamawa State CAN Chairman when he rightly say that the crises is neither Ethnic nor religious. It was a bleak scenario, let’s join hands together as brothers and sisters and quench the flames rather than giving it wings to fly.
The irrepressible Bishop said, “No sane person will see the images of innocent women and children dastardly killed, and be at ease. We are touched by the situation and we condemned the act as inhuman and barbaric, we condoled all the Muslim Ummahs and the families of the diseased. We pray that God will give you the fortitude to bear with the lost. We are glad that security forces are working hard to investigate the matter so that justice can prevail.”
“We thank God for our Proactive Governor, Mohammed Jibrila Bindow for his quick intervention over the matter and as an unbiased leader, we are confident that justice will be done.”
“As a spiritual father, I called on the State and the Federal government, Traditional Authorities and religious bodies, to get into the root of the matter, by looking into the ricocheting conflict between farmers and herdsmen diplomatically, because the recent crises may not be unconnected with the constant clash between the duos.”
“The state of affairs in Numan needs to be handled with fragility and wisdom in order not to trigger the once calmed communities into a hog of violence and chaos”, he warns.
