Don’t get involved in local politics- Gov. Gaidam tell new CP

Yobe State Governor,Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam has called on the new commissioner of Police posted to the state to concentrate on effective policing and protection of lives and property rather than getting involved in the local politics of the state.

Gov.  Gaidam also called on the police chief to handle issues that concern politicians with in the state utmost  impartiality whether from the ruling or opposition party.

The Governor gave the charge when the newly posted commissioner of police Sunmonu A. Abdulmaliki paid him a courtesy call in his office in Damaturu penultimate week.

Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam disclosed that the police are vested with the responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens hence they should always remain neutral at all time.

The Governor said since inception the present administration has been formulating policies that will strengthen security in Yobe through the establishment of good working relationship with Nigerian police assuring them of more support and assistance for greater results.

Gov. Gaidam who described people of Yobe as a law abiding equally charged police to be professional in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Governor who described the appointment and posting of Sunmonu A. Abdulmaliki as a welcome development equally urged him to use his years of experience by improving the performance of the police in Yobe state

Earlier speaking, the new commissioner of police Sunmonu A. Abdulmaliki said though he is not new in Yobe his stay in the state will be guided by the principles of community policing, intelligence led policing as well as accountability and transparency.

He commended the present administration of Ibrahim Gaidam for its assistance to Nigeria police also requested for more support for success.

TGNews  gathered  that Sunmonu A. Abdulmaliki was a police area commander in Potiskum zone Yobe state in 2009 to 2012.
