About eight fillings stations in Jalingo municipal and Wukari, local council area of Taraba State, were yesterday sealed, while many others were forced to dispense the premium motor spirit, PMS, to motorists at the government approved pump price of N145 per litre.
The DPR officials also discovered that AA Rano Oil Nig, Ltd which was one of the stations sealed yesterday, had over 29,400 litres of PMS but the station pumps were under delivering by 560mls and 320mls respectively.
Apparently angered by what he called “puerile explanation”, the DPR Controller, Engr. Musa Akenn, who led the team of officials, not only ordered the sealing of the station but also impose sanctions on the erring filling stations owners.
The situation was different at Muwanshat International Ventures, Wuro Sembe Road, Jalingo where DPK was selling at N160/litre before the arrival of DPR officials, who immediately forced them to revert to the official pump price.
It will be recalled that AA Rano, obtained the product from illegal marketers and took it a license station to sell above Government approved price.
Fielding questions from newsmen after the monitoring exercise, Engr. Musa Akenn said the major interest was the full compliance of government directive on the sale of PMS and DPK and also warned that subsequent offenders license will be revoked.
Akenn confirmed to newsmen that filling stattions that have comply with the penalty were unsealed.
“No marketer has so far given us any lead to justify the outrageous price tag they placed on the petroleum product. Until they do this, we will continue to insist on the government approved pump price”, Akenn said.
Most car owners who spoke to our reporters, commended DPR for enforcing the government directive on pump price.
