Dr Maurice Joins Wike as Abuja Unveils Landmark Transit Corridor Linking City Districts

Dr. Maurice Vunobolki on Tuesday joined top government officials, party stakeholders, and residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the commissioning of the Transit Way N2 Corridor, a major road infrastructure project designed to improve connectivity between Abuja’s Central Business District and Wuse District.

The event, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, marked the official opening of the strategic corridor, which features two purpose-built bridges and forms a key component of Abuja’s long-term transportation network.

The Transit Way N2 is part of the original Abuja Master Plan, conceived as a continuous transit route traversing the northern and southern districts of the capital city.

The corridor was designed to accommodate both vehicular traffic and future rail transit infrastructure, reflecting the city’s vision for an integrated and sustainable transportation system.

What began as a modest citizen-driven intervention around the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation axis has evolved into a fully developed transit corridor, underscoring the gradual realization of critical components of the capital city’s master plan.

Speaking after the commissioning, Dr. Maurice described the project as a practical demonstration of how effective governance translates into visible improvements in the lives of citizens.

According to him, infrastructure projects such as the Transit Way N2 go beyond physical construction, serving as lasting investments that enhance mobility, stimulate economic activities, and strengthen urban development.

The commissioning comes at a symbolic period in Nigeria’s history, coinciding with the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Federal Capital Territory.

For Dr. Maurice, the occasion represented more than a ceremonial event. Standing alongside Minister Wike and other party leaders, he viewed the commissioning as a reminder that the true impact of governance is best measured through tangible outcomes that improve everyday life.

As motorists begin to use the new corridor, the Transit Way N2 is expected to ease traffic flow, reduce travel time between key districts, and contribute to Abuja’s transformation into a more connected and efficient modern city.
