Dr. Maurice unveils Gov Fintiri ‘s Solar powered upland Irrigation initiative to boost food security in Adamawa State, covering over 5,000 hectares

In a groundbreaking initiative to revolutionize agriculture in Adamawa State,Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has unveiled the launching of solar power borehole project to boost food security in Adamawa state.

Dr. Maurice Vunobolki, lead Project Coordinator of World Bank North-east Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project revealed the ambitious project of Governor Ahmadu and Said the aimed is to construct solar-powered boreholes and upland irrigation system across five key local government areas of the state, which is to include Madagali, Michika, Girei, Mayobelwa, and Numan. This initiative is set to support over 5,000 hectares of farmland, enabling year-round farming activities and significantly enhancing food security in the region.

Aligning with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s free agricultural support agenda, Dr. Vunobolki’s project is committed to support Fintiri in empowering farmers, particularly young people and women, to achieve self-sufficiency. His vision of a hunger-free Adamawa State.

“Thanks to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, he is indeed a Godsend Man,” said a local farmer who has directly benefited from his initiatives. “We can’t repay him; all we can do is pray for him and ask God to bless and protect him.” This sentiment was echoed by a widow who, despite never having met him in person, felt his impactful presence through his extensive empowerment programs.

The initiative is not just about infrastructure; it’s about transforming lives. “He is farmer-friendly Governor,” said a young farmer who participated in MCRP’s recent empowerment program. “Thanks to the fresh air Governor, I can now proudly call myself a mechanized farmer. I promise to apply the skills I’ve learned to enhance my agricultural practices.”
