A lecturer with the Department of Peace and Security studies of Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTRCH) Yola,Dr Saheed Owonikoko is set to marry Ussa Maibaka as the traditional engagement held in Yola Adamawa state.
Experts in Peace and conflict resolution studies described the marriage as a foster and factor for nation building that will bring about peaceful existence.
Saheed who held from Oyo state and Ussa an indigene of Guyuk, Adamawa state whose coming together to be husband and wife break all barriers of ethnic,tribal and religion identities.
Ussa who is from Lunguda tribe from Guyuk and Saheed,a Yola man is an idea of unity in diversity, peaceful co-existence for nation building.
Ussa who found Saheed a hubby a love connection of North East and South West Nigeria,as according to Matudi should be encouraged.
Gambo emphasized that inter marriages will discard away all forms of ethnic crisis bringing the country into a more closer family.
“Inter cultural marriage is a sign of unity is a strength in diversity,suggesting the wisdom of traditional marriages in the country is good,and if it can be institutionalised in the nation’s forms of leadership will fuel up peace in great measures.” Gambo said
The Father of the groom,Philemon Gulkatri in his response while collecting the dowry said our Daughter made her choice, we as a family we endorsement with the many blessings it goes with it.
He pray that as Marriage is been designed by God and a good wish for Him for a man and woman to be together he prayed His numerous and manifolds blessings should remain in their homes.
The payment of dowry connotes the traditional marriage observe by the Lunguda tradition brought together professor, Doctors and postgraduate students of the institution to witness the great Union.
Prominent people from the institution,friends and Family members of both the Bride and the groom to have graced the occasion suggests a support to the Union that has a taste of national unity.
The ceremony has the honour of the Director of Peace and Security department, Mr Gambo Matudi,Dr Chiyere Nwadike Alimba,Barr Jamila Suleiman to witness the journey set to embark by Saheed and Ussa.
