Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is currently being re-arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the alleged tapping of the National Security Adviser’s phone.

El-Rufai was brought to the court premises around 8:55am on Monday by heavily armed DSS operatives, who cordoned off the court area, restricting access to journalists, court staff, and other members of the public.
The development caused a brief protest as activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, demanded that the court — a public facility — should not be closed to citizens wishing to observe proceedings.
According to a source at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), DSS operatives arrived at their facility as early as 7:00am to take custody of the former governor for the court appearance.
El-Rufai was previously in ICPC custody as part of a separate matter before being transferred for today’s arraignment.
