ECWA Kano Central DCC: “No Court Order Disobeyed” – Legal Adviser Warns order was obtained by Fraudulent misrepresentation of facts

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Kano Central District Church Council (DCC) has strongly refuted reports circulating on social media alleging that a Kano High Court nullified the council and ordered the arrest of its executives, describing the claims as misleading, fraudulent, and designed to deceive the public.

Reacting to the reports, ECWA Legal Adviser, Barrister Yakubu Saleh Bawa, stated that the narrative being circulated by counsel to the plaintiffs, B.Y. Gambo, was riddled with misrepresentations, concealment of material facts, and deliberate distortions intended to create a false impression regarding the status of the case before the court.

According to Barrister Bawa, the order being celebrated on social media was obtained through what he described as “fraudulent misrepresentation of facts” and emotional manipulation of the court process.

“B.Y. Gambo obtained the order through fraudulent misrepresentation of facts. The motion on notice upon which the order was granted is grossly incompetent. The Honourable Court was misled into making an order concerning the Kano Central Executive due to serious concealment of material facts,” Bawa stated.

The senior legal practitioner maintained that the ECWA leadership and the Kano Central DCC executives have never disobeyed any valid court order and remain legally recognized office holders pending the determination of the substantive suit.

He emphasized that claims suggesting the executives had been removed from office or that the council had ceased to exist were entirely false and should be disregarded by members of the church and the general public.

“Till this moment, ECWA has never disobeyed or disregarded any valid court order. All officials of the Kano Central DCC remain intact and have never been removed from office,” he said.

Barrister Bawa disclosed that his legal team has formally applied for the certified copy of the court’s ruling and would take appropriate legal steps in the best interest of their clients after a thorough review of the decision.

He stressed that unlike those seeking media attention, his team remains committed to the ethics of the legal profession and would not litigate a pending matter through social media platforms.

“As legal practitioners, we have strict adherence to legal principles and professional ethics. We do not discuss matters that are already pending before a competent court on social media. We shall present the true and complete facts before the same court at the appropriate time,” he said.

The legal adviser further stated B.Y. Gambo is always engaging in publicity-driven tactics and attempting to influence public opinion through one-sided narratives.

“All the narrations being circulated concerning what transpired in court are false and misleading. There appears to be a penchant for seeking cheap publicity through social media rather than allowing the judicial process to run its course,” Bawa added.

He called on ECWA members across the country to remain calm and avoid being swayed by what he termed “unverified and sensationalized reports.”

According to him, every statement emanating from the plaintiffs’ counsel should be carefully scrutinized until all facts are presented before the court.

The ECWA legal team reiterated that the matter remains sub judice and urged all parties to respect the judicial process rather than engage in media campaigns capable of inflaming tensions within the church.

In a strongly worded appeal, the legal adviser warned against the spread of falsehood and misinformation, reminding Christians and members of the public of the moral and spiritual consequences of bearing false witness.

“We urge everyone, especially those sharing unverified information online, to fear God and refrain from spreading falsehood. The integrity of the judicial process must be respected, and truth must prevail over sensationalism and misinformation,” he stated.

Barrister Bawa concluded by assuring ECWA members that the church leadership remains committed to lawful conduct and confidence in the nation’s judicial system, expressing optimism that the full facts of the case would emerge during subsequent proceedings.

For now, ECWA Kano Central DCC insists that no valid court order has been disobeyed, no executive has been lawfully removed from office, and the public should treat reports suggesting otherwise with caution pending further legal developments.
