ECWA Re-elects General Sec, Elects New VP at 73rd General Church Council

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has successfully concluded key leadership elections during its 73rd General Church Council meeting, reinforcing continuity and fresh vision for the denomination’s future.

The elections, held at the ECWA International Conference Center in Jos, Plateau State, saw Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe re-elected as General Secretary for a second term. In a separate contest, Rev. Chidi Joseph Nmadubuko emerged as the new Vice President after securing 220 votes in a peaceful and orderly process. Additionally, Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Babatunde Omidiji was re-elected as Trustee representing Zone 9.

The General Church Council serves as ECWA’s highest decision-making body, convening church leaders, delegates, and representatives from districts and zones across Nigeria and the diaspora.

This year’s session opened with prayers and a comprehensive review of the church’s mission progress, with the leadership elections forming a major highlight on the agenda.

Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe’s re-election reflects strong confidence in his stewardship during his first term. Under his leadership, the church advanced administrative reforms and expanded its outreach initiatives. He will continue to serve as the chief administrative officer, guiding the denomination’s day-to-day operations and strategic programmes.

The Vice Presidential election was conducted in a spirit of unity and transparency. Rev. Chidi Joseph Nmadubuko’s victory positions him to work closely with the ECWA President, providing strategic support and pastoral insight to advance the church’s mission.

His wealth of experience in ministry is expected to strengthen leadership collaboration across ECWA’s global network.

Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Babatunde Omidiji’s re-election as Zone 9 Trustee ensures continued effective management of the church’s trust properties and legal affairs in the zone.

Delegates maintained a solemn and prayerful atmosphere throughout the proceedings. Special prayers were offered for the newly elected officers, seeking divine wisdom, strength, and unity as they assume their responsibilities in the coming years.

The ECWA leadership and delegates expressed gratitude for the smooth conduct of the elections and reaffirmed their commitment to the church’s core values of evangelism, discipleship, and holistic transformation.
