President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Monday Okpebholo on his victory in the Edo State governorship election, urging him to view his win as a challenging call to service rather than a reason to gloat ¹. Okpebholo, 54, secured 291,667 votes, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 247,274 votes, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) who came third with 22,763 votes.
Tinubu encouraged Okpebholo to demonstrate magnanimity by reaching out to his political rivals and uniting the people of Edo State to ensure its development. The President also praised other candidates for their contributions to advancing Nigeria’s democracy, noting that peaceful political contests portray Nigeria as a stable democracy.
