The 10 ward executives in Etsako
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Etsako Ward 10, Edo State, Stephen Oshawo, has dismissed reports that the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as a member of the party had been lifted.

He insisted that the ward executives stand by their suspension of the National Chairman of the APC.

Recall that 17 out of the 27 executives of the APC in the ward, Etsako West local government of Edo state lifted Oshiomhole’s suspension earlier on Saturday.

But in a statement later on Saturday, Oshawo said the ward executives, who were elected into office in 2018, remain intact and had not been displaced by anybody.

While stating that they remain in the APC, he described the claims of the lifting of the suspension as “false”.

The 10 ward executives in Etsako
“The suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by the ward executives remains valid,” the ward chairman said.

“The statements to the contrary in the media are false and should be disregarded. We stand by our decision and have no reservation on the action as it is in the best interest of the party.

“The ward executives as well as our counterparts at the Etsako West Local Government level stand by the suspension of Comrade Oshiomhole for his divisive role in the crisis rocking the APC in Edo State.”

However, checks by ALEDEH News revealed that the Chairman of APC in Etsako West LGA is Alhaji Abubakar Akokhia, who equally affirmed that the suspension had been lifted and ratified by the LGA executives.

It remains to be seen how this will play out in the coming days.

One thing is however clear and it is the fact that democracy is a game of numbers. If 17 lifted the suspension and 10 insists, which carries the day or are we back to the days of the infamous Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) election where 16 was greater than 19? The battle may again shift to the courts for interpretation.

The Oshawo-led executives are believed to be loyal to Governor Godwin Obaseki who joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday.
