Election Tribunal: No one appeal on Adamawa verdicts after 21 days grace period- official

A staff of the appeal court Yola who prefers to be anonymous confirmed to this medium that all the election tribunal verdicts have not been recorded for appeal by affected candidates or political parties.

Our Adamawa Correspondent made the findings after the expiration of the twenty-one-day window periods of appeals by dissatisfied candidates of any political party of the election tribunal judgment.

Daily Times found out that the judgment by the tribunal in favor of the PDP candidate, Hon Zachariah Dauda Nyampa, the House of Representatives member representing the Michika/Madagali federal constituency area of Adamawa State was passed on the 10th of August.

Our correspondent reports that the judgment was not appealed after the twenty-one-day grace period by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon Ayuba Joseph Kwada (Depolice) who had initially headed to the election tribunal challenging Zachariah’s victory on the ground of irregularities in some wards in Michika Local Government area of the State.

The finding by our reporter revealed that the verdict by the tribunal in favor of Hon Jingi Rufai, Lawmaker representing Mubi North/Mubi South/Maiha of the People’s democratic party, PDP, was said to have been not appealed by the APC candidate, Hon Jaafar Haske who petitioned his victory to the election tribunal.

When contacted, Jafaar bluntly said he would not appeal on the judgment and accepted the election tribunal in good fate.

Abubakar Babazango of the APC who challenged the victory of the PDP HoR member representing Yola North/Yola South/Girei federal constituency, Hon Abdullahi Salihu (Abba Girei), and assured our correspondent is his firm determination to seek redress in the court of appeal.

Despite Babazango’s decision, the court of appeal official said so far there is only one appeal from Taraba state the appeal court received as the twenty days elapsed.
