Empowerment:Rodney,NUT Chairman distributes water pumps to Adamawa communities

Comrade Rodney Nathan, the Adamawa State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has donated about 30 water-pumps to four villages for irrigation farming so as to augument the shortfall in rainy season.

The villages are:Njoboliyo,Rugange,Njoboli and koffare, all in Yola-south local government area of the state.

The donation of the irrigation equipments was under his community Development pet project “Comrade Rodney Agricultural Empowerment Programme (CRAEP)”

Presenting the water pumps to the beneficiaries in Njoboliyo, Rodney Nathan said, the gesture was not political but borne out of his desire to assist his community and neighbouring villages so as to boost food security in line with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s agenda.

According to him, the communities being riverine will yield positive impact on food production.

Rodney Nathan urged the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunities by using the machines judiciously.

He equally admonished governments at the grassroot to support local farmers with such kind of gesture, considering the perennial shortfalls during rainy seasons.

The chairman, Yola south local government, Alhaji Salihu Malkohi,who commended the initiative of Comrade Rodney Nathan,did not hesitate in supporting the beneficiaries with about three hundred thousand naira for fuelling and other logistics.

He assured the local farmers that government will cue in the Programme considering it’s direct benefit to farmers.
The Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who was the Chairman at the occasion,Chief Joel Hammajoda Madaki and the District Head of YOLA (cika soro Adamawa) all applauded the effort of Rodney Nathan for providing irrigation equipments to the communities.

They stressed the need for individuals to borrow a leaf from Rodney’s gesture to put smiles on the faces of the local farmers.

The beneficiaries,who beneficiaries who were visibility happy expressed appreciation to Comrade Rodney Nathan, saying the gesture was timely.
