Engr Musa vows to turn Taraba Water Supply Agency into a model service delivery in Nigeria

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has been commended for restoring water supply after eleven months no operation across the the state.

The General Manager of Taraba state Water Board Engr. Musa Siam Buba made the commendation at the Taraba state E-WASH Meadia Roundtable Meeting held at Shield Hotel Jalingo, the state capital.

The Effective Water Sanitation Hygiene (E-WASH) program is a Technical Assistance Support from the USAID for four years (2018-2022).

The three day event which was organized by the United States Agency for International Aids (USAID) in collaboration with the Taraba state Water Supply Agency (TSWA) aimed at to discuss issues with Media Reporting of the WASH sector and identified barriers for Media engagement in the state.

Giving an overview of the Taraba state Water Board, Engr. Musa Siam said that the organization was established in 1992, a year after the creation of the state and commenced with thirteen water stations, while currently it has fourty two stations.

He said, as part of Governor Darius Ishaku’s commitment towards improving the well-being of the people of the state during his first administration, the state government has employed fifty young professionals with a view to boost staff strength of the Board.

According to the General Manager, the state government has has done a lot to the board including sponsoring sixty staff to Nairobi, Kenya in order to sharpen their skills and experience to enable them perform better in improving the services of the state water supply Agency.

Other achievements by the Board comprises the digitalization and computerization, as well as the establishment of non-payment of water department among others.

Engr. Musa Buba Siam however urged the Media to assist in sensitizing water consumers on the need to be paying bills as at when due to enable them improve their service delivery across the state.

Speaking on the objectives of the meeting, Advocacy and Strategic Communication Adviser of USAID, Abdulsalam Badamasi noted that if the Media is not involve, the public will not be aware of the E-WASH program, and the set goals would not be achieved as expected.

Participants drew from all the representatives of both National Newspapers, National, International and local Media stations and other stakeholders in the state.
