Engineer Musa Nimrod, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, has hailed the remarkable progress in the country’s volleyball landscape, describing the ongoing National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball League in Abuja as a pivotal milestone. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Nimrod attributed the league’s success to the federation’s grassroots development programs and robust support initiatives, which are now yielding tangible results.
As the CAVB Zone 3 Secretary, Nimrod highlighted the league’s role as a vital platform for clubs, particularly those without elite players or the financial muscle to compete in the Premier League. “Clubs from across Nigeria now have an opportunity to grow, showcase talent, and build a sustainable future for the sport,” he said.

A standout achievement, Nimrod noted, is the significant increase in female teams, signaling a bright future for women’s volleyball. “The rise in women’s participation is a beacon of hope. These young players, both boys and girls, are hungry for the game and will grow into elite athletes with a champion’s mindset,” he added.
Nimrod emphasized the importance of a structured league system in creating a talent pipeline, marking an end to the era of drafting players into national teams or the Premier League without competitive experience. He urged stakeholders to remain patient with the process, acknowledging occasional inconsistencies while welcoming constructive ideas and contributions.
“We are witnessing a gradual revolution in Nigerian volleyball,” Nimrod declared. “With vibrant young players, dedicated coaches, and energetic officials, the sport is on an upward trajectory.”

Expressing gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff for their critical support, Nimrod reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to complementing sponsor contributions to ensure the league’s smooth operation. He also commended state governments, agencies, and private clubs for their participation despite economic challenges.
“Rome wasn’t built in a day, but with unity, we will build our Rome,” Nimrod concluded, rallying stakeholders to join hands in making history for Nigerian volleyball.
