“Enough is Enough”: NSA Ribadu Declares War on Perpetrators in Plateau State

In the aftermath of the recent wave of attacks that left several communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State reeling in pain, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has made a bold declaration: “Enough is enough.”

Speaking at the Operation SAFE HAVEN Headquarters in Jos, Ribadu emphasized the urgency of restoring peace to Plateau and other troubled areas. His visit comes amid rising concerns over security lapses that have led to loss of lives and displacement across rural communities like Ruwi, Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai.

“This incident that we witnessed last January, hopefully we will not see it again. And that is why I come with this message,” Ribadu stated solemnly.

He expressed regret over the resurgence of violence and called for firm action, noting that security agencies must do “whatever it takes” to stop the bloodshed. “We say that enough is enough. It has to stop—whatever it takes,” he stressed.

The NSA acknowledged that some miscreants and criminals were taking advantage of community efforts to promote peace, warning that “little things will spark things that will get out of place.”

While recognizing the complex nature of the crisis, Ribadu insisted that the government is learning valuable lessons and implementing stronger strategies. “But I can assure you, things have improved. And it will even be better as we continue to move across the country and in the Plateau as well,” he added.

He emphasized that peace is the foundation for everything else. “If you do not live in peace, there is no way, no chance anything can work—no progress, no growth, no development, no education, no health, nothing.”

According to Ribadu, the federal government has made significant strides in addressing violent crimes and insurgency. “Violence, death—reduced probably by over 90% in our country,” he said, comparing recent trends to the situation in 2022 and 2023.

He further revealed that many criminal elements responsible for unrest across the country have been arrested. “The bad people have been arrested, it’s true. And we’ll continue to do more.”

Ribadu warned against exaggerated reports on the attacks, saying the figures being shared were not accurate. He explained that investigations were still ongoing, and some victims were still in hospitals, making it hard to confirm exact numbers.

He assured residents that justice will be served. “Those who are found responsible, those who are directly connected, will be prosecuted. Justice will be done. You will see the difference.”

Highlighting government progress, Ribadu disclosed that in the last year, nearly 2,000 terrorists have been prosecuted nationwide, with many already convicted.

“This is going to be a continuation. We will not relent. We are serious, we are honest about what we are doing,” he declared.

He encouraged Plateau citizens to hold onto hope. “This progress we are making, this continuous improvement will continue. We’ll get to a point where we say, yes, we have crossed—and be grateful to God.”
