Taraba State Government has condemned in totality statement credited to some TIV Youths who are making efforts to tarnish and blackmail the reputation of Governor Darius Ishaku and Retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma over the recent Jukun and TIV crisis.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku on Media and Publicity Bala Dan Abu says in a recent press statement, a group known as Tiv Youth Council made sweeping and frivolous allegations against these two eminent personalities to the effect that they are fueling the Tiv and Jukun crisis.
It says the statement is completely false as it contains nothing to support the grave and wicked allegations made against these eminent Jukun personalities.
The statement adds that the intention of the group is clearly to seek public sympathy by falsely accusing these patriots of complacency in the crisis for no reason other than that they are Jukun.
Tha state Government says the attitude is unhelpful to the crisis emphasizing that Governor Darius Ishaku and Retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma have always been in the forefront of all the efforts to end the crisis.
It recalls that in the past two years Governor Darius Ishaku and his Benue State counterpart Samuel Ortom visited Tiv and Jukun communities more than four times and their deputies more than five times to preach peace and to encourage the warring factions to sheath their sword.
Government emphasis that the present situation in the Taraba and Benue borders calls for honest commitment to the quest for peace not pointing accusing fingers at innocent people calling on all the critical stakeholders to join the ongoing efforts by the Taraba and Benue state governments to restore peace to the affected areas.
