The newly coronated village Heads in Kona Chiefdom, Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State, have been called upon to ensure unity and peaceful coexistence among their subjects.
The Paramount Traditional Ruler of Kona, Kuru Kona, HRH. Augustine Vengkani made the call in his Palace during the Coronation ceremony of Thirty Village Heads under the Chiefdom.
He urged the newly coronated Village Heads to emphasize more on the importance of peaceful coexistence in their domains irrespective of Religious and Tribal differences, adding that without peace there will be no development.
The royal father informed the gathering that the purpose of coronating the new village heads was to ensure effective administration of the Chiefdom.
“I charge you to go and do justice to all irrespective of Religious and Tribal differences.
“I also charge you to live up to expectations, for all eyes are on you. What you use to do, talk or go before, you should be careful and restrict them because you have become leaders and all eyes are on you.
“And we most thank Governor Darius Ishaku who restored our past glory as Kona Chiefdom, we will never forget him till the end of the world.” Kuru Kona emphasized.
Earlier, the Chairman planning Committee, Abel Nuku appreciated Governor Darius Ishaku for giving approval for the Coronation and thanked the Paramount Ruler of Kona Chiefdom for his effort in putting structures on ground.
The Chiefdom has seven Districts and over Thirty Village Heads under it’s supervision.
Kona Chiefdom is amongst the Chiefdoms that are experiencing various crises ranging from religious and tribal which of recent was that of Farmers and Herders that led to the destructions of lives and Properties worth millions of naira.
The event featured Kona and Mummuye cultural dances and the turbaning of Twenty Seven out of the Thirty Village Heads.
