Ex-Federal Controller of Works Brutally Murdered in Kwara

A retired Controller of Works at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, AbdulRazaq Ajani, met a gruesome end in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on January 1, 2025. According to eyewitnesses, four young men, aged between 18 and 22, trailed Ajani to his residence in the Tanke area and carried out the dastardly operation. The incident occurred at about 3 pm, just minutes after Ajani and his family returned from Offa, where they had gone to celebrate the New Year.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident, stating that police have commenced an investigation into the matter. Although no suspects have been arrested yet, the police are working tirelessly to unravel the circumstances surrounding Ajani’s murder. A family member described how the assassins casually entered Ajani’s compound, engaging him in a discussion before attacking him. The scene of the crime is said to be gruesome, with blood stains on the walls and Ajani’s brain scattered on the floor.

The Kwara State Police Command has a history of tackling violent crimes, as seen in a recent case where three individuals were detained in connection with the murder of two young men at a night club in Tanke. The command’s commitment to upholding justice and ensuring adequate security in the state is reassuring, and it is expected that they will leave no stone unturned in investigating Ajani’s murder.
