Ex-Governor spent over N100 million in assisting orphans in zamfara

The former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has distributed food items and clothing materials worth over N105 million to 5,000 Orphans in the State.

The formal flag off ceremony of the distribution was held on Wednesday in Gusau, the State capital.

Our Correspondent reports that items distributed to the beneficiaries included Wraffers, Shader brocades, bags of orice, millet, maize and sugar.

Speaking at the event, former Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari disclosed that Orphans across the 17 emirate Councils in the state would benefits from the gesture.

Represented by his former commissioner for Religious affairs, Mallam Maharazu Talata mafara informed that the gesture was part of efforts to better the living condition of the Orphans and less privileged in the state.

He explained that the gesture was part of the former Governor, Abdulaziz Yari’s widow mind to bring joy to Orphans and less privileged persons particularly during this holy month of Ramadan.

He assured that by next year if nothing has changed from government side in terms of assisting Orphans:”God’s willing i would improve more on the gesture to Orphans, widows and the less privileged people across the State”. Yari pledged.

Also speaking , the committee secretary for the screening and selection, Hon Sanusi Dan Alhaji said a total of 5000 Orphans across the 17 Emirates in the State would benefit from the gesture.

He revealed that in each of the 17 Emirates a total of 277 Orphans that included 166 Women and 111children were selected to benefit from the package except Gusau the State capital which would enjoy 554 beneficiaries.

Hon. Sanusi liman Dan Alhaji, however, pointed out that former Governor Yari has spent over N105 million to procure both food items and the clothing materials for the betternment of the Orphans in the State.

He said women or children would take home with 5 yards wraffer or shader brocade with one thousand naira cash for sewing.
