Ex-President Jonathan’s ADC, DIG Jitoboh Dies In Abuja Hospital

Tragedy has struck the Nigerian police community with the passing of Moses Jitoboh, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police and former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. Jitoboh died on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Garki General Hospital in Abuja due to blood clots in his lungs. The news of his death was confirmed by former Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM) of FRSC Kayode Olagunju in a social media post, where he described Jitoboh as a friend and course mate at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.

Jitoboh, who hails from Bayelsa State, had a distinguished career in the police force, serving as ADC to former President Jonathan during his vice presidency from 2007 to 2010. However, his career was cut short last year when he was compulsorily retired following the appointment of the current Inspector-General of Police. Jitoboh had contested his retirement in court, claiming he was forced out of the Nigeria Police Force before reaching the mandatory retirement age. Unfortunately, his case was still pending before the National Industrial Court in Abuja at the time of his death.

The passing of DIG Jitoboh has sent shockwaves throughout the Nigerian police community, with many paying tribute to his service and legacy. His death is a reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers in the line of duty, and his contributions to the Nigerian police force will not be forgotten.
