Ex-Senate President David Mark Dumps PDP for ADC

Former Senate President, Dr. David A. B. Mark, GCON, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), announcing his decision in a letter dated June 27, 2025.

Recent events have subjected the party to public ridicule and diminished its former stature

The veteran politician, who previously served as President of the 6th and 7th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, cited deepening divisions, persistent leadership crises, and the party’s reduced relevance as reasons for his departure.

In his resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue State, Mark expressed his long-standing commitment to the party, particularly after its 2015 presidential election loss. Despite efforts to rebuild and reposition the PDP, he noted that recent events have subjected the party to public ridicule and diminished its former stature.

Following wide consultations with his family, friends, and political associates, Mark has resolved to join the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement in Nigeria, aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to contribute to a collective effort to rescue the nation’s democracy. His move marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape.
