Ex-Zamfara deputy gov injured in Abuja-Kaduna train attack

A former deputy governor of Zamfara State, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala Linan, has been confirmed injured in the Abuja-Kaduna train attack perpetrated by terrorists and has been taken to a military hospital in Kaduna State, for adequate treatment.

This was confirmed by the Zamfara state Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau.

According to him, the former deputy governor was kidnapped by the terrorists during the heat of the attack but was saved by the combined forces of the Department of State Services (DSS) and military operatives during a gun battle with the terrorists.

“He was initially abducted but was rescued by joined efforts of the military and DSS operatives and during the process, he sustained various degrees of injuries in the leg as a result of the gun battle,” he said.

“However, he is responding very much to treatment at the military hospital in Kaduna State.”

It was learnt that the train was filled up with hundreds of passengers and was brutally attacked by gunmen suspected to be notorious terrorists operating between Katari and the Rijana axis of Kaduna State.
