In a stunning twist to a high-profile case, TGNews can exclusively report that Dr. Emmanuel Musa, a renowned philanthropist, is not currently in prison despite a court order for his remand.

On Friday, July 4, 2025, Chief Magistrate Court III in Yola, presided over by Chief Magistrate Uwani Danladi Mohammed, ordered the remand of Dr. Emmanuel Musa and three others—Godwin Chukukuyada, Danlami Nuhu, and Ibrahim Bakari—in prison custody.

The defendants face charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Thomas Zamfara, a Peoples Democratic Party youth leader, who was allegedly killed on April 15, 2025.

The court adjourned the case to July 7, 2025, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) at the Adamawa State Ministry of Justice.

However, TGNews investigations have uncovered that Dr. Musa is not currently detained in Yola as ordered. Sources confirm that around 6:30 PM on Friday, a private jet landed in Yola, and Dr. Musa was reportedly flown to Abuja. This development raises questions about the enforcement of the court’s remand order and the circumstances surrounding his departure from Yola.

Our correspondent contacted Dr. Musa’s lawyer, Barr. Gabriel Adikwu, who confirmed that the defense team is thoroughly reviewing the case. Adikwu emphasized that his client denies any involvement in the alleged homicide of Thomas Zamfara. “We are giving this case in-depth consideration. My client maintains his innocence, and we will challenge the allegations vigorously,” Adikwu stated.

A reliable resource who prefers to be anonymous told TGNews that Dr Emmanuel was taken to the prison in the afternoon and was there till evening but directives from the office of the inspector general ordered his case be transferred to Abuja for proper investigation to be carried out before taking him back to Yola.

According to him the prosecutors with the FIR didn’t do in-depth investigation and cross examination of the whole issue and delved into court matters unprepared.

Further investigations by TGNews revealed that the police, acting as prosecutors, admitted to filing the case against Dr. Musa and his co-defendants without completing the necessary investigations.

According to sources, the prosecution informed the court of their intent to withdraw from further investigation, citing the need for more thorough inquiries. Despite this, Dr. Musa remains a prime suspect in the ongoing probe into Zamfara’s death, which occurred under unclear circumstances along the Hong-Gombi highway.
