Ezenwa Slams Nigerians: ‘We’re Quick to Criticize, Slow to Offer Solutions’

The Executive Director of Peering Advocacy and Advancement Center in Africa (PAACA), Mr. Ezenwa Nwagwu, has described Nigeria as a nation filled with critics.

He made this statement during the Citizens’ Town Hall Meeting on Electoral Reform, organized by PAACA in Yola on March 4, 2025.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote electoral reforms across Nigeria, PAACA convened key election stakeholders, traditional leaders, youth, women, and media personnel to discuss electoral reforms and constitutional amendments.

The meeting was designed to serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue on electoral reform and constitutional amendment

While addressing the participants, Mr. Ezenwa emphasized that the meeting was designed to serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue on electoral reform and constitutional amendment.

He encouraged attendees to envision themselves in strategic positions and propose solutions to the challenges surrounding election conduct, rather than simply criticizing governmental bodies or agencies.

During the discussions, panelists addressed key topics, including an overview of electoral reforms and critical issues affecting the process. Additionally, facilitated group discussions focused on four major areas:Electoral Integrity and Transparency, Voter Education and Participation,Electoral System Reform, Electoral Legal Framework and Institutional Reform.

Following these discussions, each group presented feedback and recommendations on how to improve these areas to foster free, fair, and credible elections in Nigeria.

Notable stakeholders in attendance included the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adamawa State, and the State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), among others.
