The Local Education Authority (LEA) of Madagali Local Government Area has issued a strong disclaimer, describing as “completely false, unfounded, and baseless” a widely circulated rumor claiming that all schools in the LGA have been shut down indefinitely over insecurity.
In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary, Mallam Hussaini Usman, the authority warned that the viral message spreading on social media and WhatsApp groups was the handiwork of mischief-makers aimed at creating unnecessary panic among parents, pupils, and residents.
“The attention of the Local Education Authority Madagali LGA has been drawn to a rumor circulating across various media platforms alleging that all schools in Madagali have been closed due to the current security situation. We wish to categorically state that this information is false,” the statement read.
The LEA directed all public and private schools under its jurisdiction to continue normal academic activities without interruption, stressing that no directive for closure has been issued by either the LGA, the state government, or security agencies.
While debunking the rumor, school administrators were reminded to heighten vigilance and strictly comply with existing safety protocols.
“School authorities are advised to remain vigilant, ensure proper monitoring of their surroundings, and adhere strictly to established operational guidelines for the safety and well-being of students and staff,” the statement added.
Reaffirming the commitment of the state government, the LEA noted that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri “remains resolute and is working round-the-clock with all security agencies to protect lives and property, including safeguarding every school across Adamawa State.”
Parents and guardians have been urged to disregard the fake news and continue sending their children/wards to school as usual.
Security sources in Madagali confirmed to journalists that the general security situation remains under control and that patrols have been intensified around schools and vulnerable communities to prevent any incident.
