Fake News Can’t Stop Us – ADC Backs Amb. Omar, Dismisses Step-Down Rumors

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa State, Ambassador Omar Suleiman, has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that he plans to step down from the 2027 governorship race, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.

‎Reacting to the rumours, ADC and supporters of the candidate said the misinformation campaign was being orchestrated by disgruntled opposition elements who have no clear pathway to victory in the 2027 election and are resorting to distractions in an attempt to mislead voters.

‎They maintained that Ambassador Suleiman remains firmly in the race and continues to enjoy widespread support across the state following his emergence as the ADC governorship candidate.

‎According to them, there has been no official statement from Suleiman, the ADC leadership, or any credible source suggesting a withdrawal from the contest.

‎The supporters argued that the spread of false information reflects growing concern among political opponents over the increasing popularity of the ADC candidate and the momentum the party has gained ahead of the election.

‎They urged party faithful and well-meaning voters to remain steadfast and ignore what they described as desperate attempts to create confusion within the electorate.

‎“Those behind these false reports are merely trying to distract voters because they have no pathway to victory. Adamawa people should disregard the fake news and remain focused on the task of building a better future for the state,” a party supporter said.

‎The supporters further expressed confidence that the ADC is well-positioned to provide good governance if elected in 2027, citing the candidate’s public service experience and the party’s development agenda for Adamawa State.

‎They reiterated their commitment to grassroots mobilization and voter engagement, insisting that the campaign remains focused on issues of governance, development, and improving the welfare of citizens.

‎The party called on the public to rely on official party channels and credible media platforms for information regarding the 2027 governorship election, while urging voters not to be swayed by unverified social media reports.
