An All Progressives Congress (APC) loyalist, Mohammed Fawas, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yola North Local Government Area of plotting to kill him.
Fawas, who fingered the chairman as being privy to the said plot, added that PDP thugs to pour acid on him and two others on January 7 night at the front gate of Ribadu Square.
“After attacking us with acid in late December 2021, again, in January, 2022, at about 6:30 pm hoodlums invaded my house at Gimba Street, Jimeta.
The hoodlums beat me to a coma after one of them warned me to stop granting interviews on radio and criticising the government,” Mohammed alleged.
Fawas insisted the attacks on him were politically motivated.
He also said one of the victims of the acid attack was critically injured and receiving treatment at the Yola Specialist Hospital.
Reacting to the allegation, PDP chair, Abubakar Sarki said that the Department of State Services (DSS) had invited him on the matter.
However, he denied the allegation describing it as cheap blackmail.
“I was invited by DSS over the matter where I categorically told them that I don’t know anything about the alleged attacks.”
Confirming the development to newsmen, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the spokesman of Adamawa Police Command, said he was well briefed on the case.
Nguroje said that the attack was reported to Jimeta police division by one Fawas Mohammed and the case was filed for investigation.
“The DPO in charge of Jimeta division has informed the State Command that one Fawas Mohammed has reported a case of acid attack on him and three others.
“The Command, after receiving the complaint, immediately commissioned an investigation,” Nguroje said.
This is coming in the wake of politicking ahead of 2023 with supporters of various parties having begun to form their opinions in the media.
Fawas is known all over Adamawa for granting audience to journalists on any issue concerning the government of the day.
