The Federal College of Education, Yola, has held its 2nd edition of the Annual Staff Dialogue and Productivity Awards, with the Chairman of the 8th Governing Council, Engineer Saheed Johnson, commending the Provost and Management for initiating the event. The ceremony, which took place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Jibril Aminu Hall, brought together key stakeholders, including external and internal members of the Governing Council, Academic Board members, Deans, Directors, and Coordinators.
Engineer Johnson praised the initiative, describing it as a step in the right direction, aimed at improving productivity and encouraging competition among staff. He urged the staff to take advantage of the initiative to be recognized and rewarded. The Provost, Dr. Mohammed Usman Degereji, expressed appreciation for the Council’s support and the staff’s cooperation in making the event a reality.

During the event, management staff presented their scorecards, highlighting challenges and suggesting strategies for mitigation. Participants made observations about the inclusion of sign language in the College’s programs and the construction of a pedestrian bridge in front of the College. They also sought clarifications and asked questions regarding taxation and water situations in staff quarters.
The Chairman and the Provost responded by disclosing the Council’s decision to improve staff and students’ welfare, as well as strengthen relationships among various unions and bodies in the College. They urged the staff and students to reciprocate by being more cooperative and productive.

The 2024 Provost’s Productivity Awards were also presented, with the Chairman urging the awardees to justify the endowment, saying “to whom much is given, much is expected.” The Deputy Provost, Aishatu Kadiri, thanked the management for finding them worthy of the award, assuring that they would not relent in justifying the confidence reposed in them for the progress and development of the College.
The Registrar, Gidado Ahmed, thanked the Governing Council for its support, the staff for their cooperation, and wished all a blissful 2025.
