FCT Minister Wike Approves Immediate Promotion for Over 2,000 Civil Servants in FCDA, FCTA

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the immediate promotion of more than 2,000 workers across the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

The decision follows the successful completion of promotion examinations conducted via Computer-Based Test (CBT) from Tuesday, November 25 to Saturday, November 29, 2025. The beneficiaries span 165 different cadres within the two key agencies responsible for administration and development in Nigeria’s capital city.

Announcing the development on Wednesday, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, described the mass promotion as a strong testament to Minister Wike’s unwavering commitment to staff welfare, motivation, and career progression.

“This is a clear demonstration of the Honourable Minister’s dedication to ensuring that hardworking civil servants are duly recognized and advanced in their careers,” Ezeh stated. He assured that promotion exercises will henceforth be conducted regularly and as at when due, in line with public service regulations.

The chairman also urged all civil servants to commence early preparation for upcoming promotion cycles in 2025 and 2026, stressing that “only diligent, disciplined, and hardworking staff will be promoted.”

Ezeh further highlighted the continued adoption of the CBT format, noting that it aligns with the digital platform for promotion examinations earlier approved by Minister Wike. This modernization effort, he explained, is aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and credibility in the entire promotion process.

The announcement has been widely welcomed by workers in the FCT civil service, many of whom had experienced delays in career advancement in previous years. The move is expected to significantly boost morale, productivity, and overall performance across the administration.

The promotion exercise forms part of broader efforts by the FCT leadership under Wike to reform and strengthen the civil service, including clearing backlogs and institutionalizing technology-driven processes.
