FCTA to Implement Daily Profiling of Migrants to Enhance Security

In a bid to tackle rising security concerns, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced plans to conduct daily profiling of migrants entering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This initiative aims to boost security monitoring and prevent potential threats. According to FCT Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu, the decision was made during an expanded security meeting chaired by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, which included chairmen of the six area councils.

The meeting focused on security concerns, particularly the increasing influx of individuals, including Al-majiri, into the territory. Disu emphasized the need for profiling, citing recent arrests of individuals posing security risks to the FCT.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, while confirming that security agencies are working on intelligence reports. Investigations are ongoing regarding five individuals recently apprehended within the FCT, with findings to be made public soon.

A newly inaugurated security committee, comprising personnel from the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), will collaborate with area council chairmen to identify schools accommodating migrant children, profile the individuals managing these institutions, and assess the content of their training.

This move is part of the FCTA’s efforts to enhance security, which also includes the procurement of drones to boost the security architecture of the territory, as announced by Minister Nyesom Wike

The government is committed to proactively addressing security concerns, ensuring the movement of individuals into the FCT is closely monitored. With the FCTA intensifying security measures, authorities are calling on residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and order within the capital.
