…as Bawa says ‘I was only referring to Diezani Allison-Madueke’

Bawa had during an interview with Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Tuesday, disclosed that EFCC investigated a female minister, who bought $37.5million property from a bank and deposited $20 million cash.
The EFCC boss had also alleged that the nation’s real estate sector had become a major conduit for money laundering.
He also noted that 90 to 100 percent of stolen public funds are used for the procurement of houses and lands.
Bawa had told the TV station, “We investigated a matter in which a bank MD marketed a property to a minister and agreed to purchase it at $37.5 million.
“The bank then sent a vehicle to her house to evacuate $20 million from her house in the first instance.”
But when asked why no serving minister had resigned or why the anti-graft agency did not prosecute the bank manager, Bawa said he was only making reference to former minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke’s case.
Diezani is currently in exile in the United Kingdom.
