FG Embarks on industry census in Taraba

As the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari continue to make concerted effort to bring out the Nation’s industralization plan, the Federal Ministry of Industry, trade and investment on Monday organized a one day stakeholders sensitization briefing on the conduct of industry census, data collection and development of national database in Taraba state.

The briefing that held at the Sani Abacha Secretariat in Jalingo, the state capital was aimed at to provide government with the information to enable it make the right decisions for investment in infrastructure as well as industrial policies and incentives.

The program which is carrying out by the ministry in partnership with Andok Projects Consultants Limited was also designed to give a true picture of the nation’s current industrialization drive thus providing information in the areas that need intervention, such as policy to promote and sustain investment in industries among others.

The project was also as a of the Federal government identification of the urgent need in creating a sustainable economic growth path for the country which was highlighted in the recent economic recovery and growth plan.

In an address, zonal coordinator, Jos zonal office and other parts of the northeast and north Central, Dauda Sama’ila explained that the information when gathered would equally assist the Federal government in knowing the kind of support industries are required as well as to ensure that the government plan relevant infrastructure like roads, power and rail among others in the right locations across the nation.

According to him, the form could be fill online, adding that companies are expected to fill the forms online annually.

He appealed to Nigerians to rally round President Buhari’s led administration for it’s effort of diversifying economy of the country away from oil.

On his part, Taraba state Commissioner of Commerce and Industries Sulaiman Ajibu who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Comrade Aliyu Umar Injeke described insecurity as a major throat for investors to come into the state.

He maintained that despite Governor Darius Ishaku’s commitment towards reviving and esterblishment of industries in the state, both the Federal and state governments has to put in more efforts in dealing with the menace.

Also speaking, Managing Director if Taraba Investment and properties limited Mr. Iliya Ezikiel disclosed that the state government had so far revived eight moribund companies which provided direct and indirect job for over five thousand youth in the state.
