FGN/IFAD-VCDP, SMEDAN trains micro entrepreneurs in Taraba

The Federal Government and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)’s Value Chain Development Programne (VCDP) in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has trained women and youths on Innovation clinic in Taraba.

Mr Irmiya Musa, State Programme Coordinator, VCDP, while declaring the event open on Tuesday in Jalingo, said that the training become crucial in enhancing agric business in the state.

Musa encouraged participants to develop the needed skills to grow their businesses from small scale to medium and large scale.

He pledged the determination of Taraba in ensuring the effectiveness of the programme.

Earlier, Mr Bala Yusuf, State Director, SMEDAN said that innovation clinic was business support services, which engendered business diagnosis, providing grounds for entrepreneurship development.

Yusuf said that the agency was committed to supporting small scale businesses to grow.

He also underscored the efforts of the SMEDAN in mentorship of nano business class.

The director encouraged participants to develop business ideas before venturing into it to enable them flourish in whatever business they might have chosen.

Also, Mr Ibrahim Aminu, Manager, Technology Incubation Centre, Jalingo advised participants to take advantage of the centre in the promotion and sustainability of their businesses.

Mr Wiza Baido, Head of Business and Marketing Department of the VCDP advised participants to develop an ideology towards developing their businesses from small scale to mega ones.

He encouraged them to streamline their business plans as well as ensure adequate records keeping for the determination of profit and loss.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the training brought together producers, processors and makerters as critical components of the agricultural production value chain.
