In a strong rebuttal to allegations made by Patricia Yakubu regarding sexual harassment by Dr. Raymond Chidama, the State Secretary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gloria Markson has come forward to defend her colleague, asserting that the claims are unfounded and politically motivated.
A “gentleman” and a “caring father” to the women in the party’s executive council
Markson, who serves as a State Ex-Officio for the party, expressed her shock at the publication circulating on social media, which she described as a “figment of imagination.” She emphasized her personal knowledge of Dr. Chidama, portraying him as a “gentleman” and a “caring father” to the women in the party’s executive council.
“The allegations are false and fabricated for reasons best known to Patricia Yakubu,” Markson stated in a written response to the claims, which have stirred significant controversy within the party. “Dr. Raymond is a man of integrity who does not deserve such name-smearing.”
The controversy surfaced after Yakubu’s claims regarding incidents she alleged occurred in July. Markson questioned the timing of Yakubu’s accusations, asking why she chose to come forward only after local government area (LGA) women leaders petitioned party leaders about her behavior. “Is this all part of a political vendetta?” she queried, urging a peaceful resolution to the dispute.

In her statement, Markson called for Yakubu to withdraw her allegations and pursue a path of unity within the party. She also encouraged Dr. Chidama to forgive any perceived wrongdoing and to refrain from escalating the situation further.
