Fintiri bans tree burning for charcoal as Traditional Rulers pay him Sallah Homage

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has in an effort to safe the environment from deforestration announced the immediate ban on tree burning for charcoal in the state.

The Governor made the declaration when traditional rulers led by the Lamido Adamawa paid him a Sallah Homage at the Presidential Lodge Government House, Yola.

Governor Umaru Fintiri thanked the
traditional rulers for finding it worthy to felicitate with him on the auspicious occasion.

The Governor assured that he is not taking his second term victory for granted, promising that the next four years will be far better than the first tenure.

He thanked the traditional rulers for the support and prayers which government enjoys, pledging to reciprocate by making every citizen sleep with two eyes closed reminding them however that security is everybody’s business.

Government he said is committed to provide better education, healthcare, rural and urban development reforms as it provides necessary inputs for farmers to ensure a bumper harvest.

Earlier Lamido Adamawa represented by the Waziri Adamawa and Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar appreciated the Governor for agreeing to resume traditional aspect of the celebration following its earlier suspension due to covid 19.

The Lamido Adamawa assured of the support and cooperation of all Emirates and chiefdoms and commended Governor Fintiri for the unprecedented progress witnessed across the state.

While reassuring of their prayers and advice always towards rebuilding the state in his second tenure, the royal father reminded the Governor that with elections over everyone looks up to him to continue on the path of development charging him not to relent.

Similarly, members of the State Assembly led by the Speaker Right Honourable Bathia Wesley congratulated the Governor for witnessing yet another Eid in peace and tranquility assuring of a cordial working relationship.

Responding, the executive according to the Governor is grateful for the show of love and togetherness between the arms of government despite its independence assuring to give all the necessary support.

Governor Fintiri while hinting the legislators on the directive banning tree burning for charcoal, he noted that despite the law that prohibits it but it was not fully implemented, calling for all hands to be on deck to safeguard the environment.

He pledged to support farmers with agricultural inputs to boost harvest particularly as a means of cushioning the effect of fuel subsidy on the people.

Also on the homage was the State Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman who led the Judges, appreciated Governor Fintiri for his commitment towards the judiciary looking forward to more reforms in the sector counting on his support as always.

Governor Umaru Fintiri thanked them for coming out for the annual ritual, promising to continue to operate with the judiciary harmoniously in the interest of the people and the state.

To make their work less cumbersome he revealed plans to renovate and upgrade the courts and provide them all other neccessary needs.
