Fintiri Hails Progress on Jimeta Modern Stadium, Orders Faster Completion

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the ongoing Jimeta Modern Stadium project, while directing the contractor handling the construction to accelerate efforts toward its timely completion.

The governor made the remarks on Tuesday during an inspection tour of the project site in Yola, where he assessed the level of progress recorded on the multi-purpose sporting facility.

Governor Fintiri described the construction work as impressive and commended the contractor for maintaining high standards on the project. He noted, however, that the stadium ought to have been completed by now, explaining that unforeseen challenges had contributed to delays in the execution of the project.

Despite the setbacks, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the project and directed the contractor to engage with him on securing an extension of time necessary for the successful completion of the stadium.

“I am impressed with the quality of work being done here. The construction is excellent, but this project should have been completed by now. We must work together to ensure it is delivered as soon as possible,” he said.

Governor Fintiri expressed optimism that the completed stadium would position Adamawa State as a major destination for national sporting events and competitions, boosting sports development, youth engagement, and economic activities across the state.

The governor also addressed reports of alleged encroachment on government land surrounding the stadium, warning that his administration would not tolerate illegal occupation of public property.

He stated that appropriate legal action would be taken against any individual found to have unlawfully erected structures on government-owned land within the stadium vicinity.

Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and people-centered development, Governor Fintiri said the government would continue to invest in projects that improve the welfare and living standards of residents.

The Jimeta Modern Stadium is one of several infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Adamawa State Government to strengthen sports facilities and enhance socio-economic development in the state.
