In a historic event marked by cultural pride and communal resilience, Adamawa State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, presided over the coronation of Dr. Ali Danburam as the Ptil Madagali in Gulak, the ancestral headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area.


This ceremony signifies the sixth in a series of coronations aimed at promoting governance, unity, and dignity among the citizens of Adamawa State.
Governor Fintiri expressed immense joy at the event, highlighting the personal significance of the occasion due to his roots in Madagali. “Whatever I am today and whatever I do for Adamawa state and Nigeria, is all thanks to this modest community where it all began,” he stated, underscoring the deep connection to his homeland.

The Governor recounted the dark times when Boko Haram had nearly devastated the region, transforming daily life into a struggle for survival. “Madagali is a land of warriors. We are a people whose spirits cannot be broken,” he declared, acknowledging the resilience that led to the community’s revival. His administration’s efforts to restore peace and reinstate displaced individuals were key to bringing back normalcy to the area.
The coronation of Dr. Ali Danburam was not just a ceremonial act but a step towards a new beginning for Madagali. Governor Fintiri praised the new Ptil as a leader with a rich pedigree, vast social network, and deep commitment to community service, ideal for leading the community into a future of prosperity and cultural integrity.

Addressing the assembly, which included dignitaries, traditional leaders, and community members, Fintiri emphasized the role of traditional leadership in fostering unity and guiding societal progress. He urged the new Ptil to lead with wisdom, justice, and compassion, aiming to transform Madagali into a model of economic and cultural development.
The Governor also outlined the economic potential of Madagali, encouraging the revival of traditional crafts like pottery, iron smelting, and garment making, alongside promoting the Sukur UNESCO World Heritage site for sustainable growth.
In a move to streamline traditional governance, Governor Fintiri directed all district heads to acknowledge the new chiefdom’s authority, suggesting a redefinition of roles and titles to align with the new administrative structure.

The ceremony concluded with Governor Fintiri inviting Dr. Ali Danburam to receive his royal staff of office, officially recognizing him as the Ptil Madagali and paramount ruler of the diverse ethnic groups within the local government.
The event not only celebrated a new chapter in Madagali’s history but also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to peace, justice, and cultural preservation.
