Hon. Innocent Koto, Executive Chairman of Numan Local Government and Treasurer of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Adamawa Chapter, has hailed Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for six years of transformative leadership that has reshaped Adamawa State.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Yola on Thursday, May 29, 2025, Koto also congratulated Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta on her two-year milestone, celebrating their combined efforts in driving progress across the state.
“Today, May 29, marks a historic moment for the new Adamawa under Governor Fintiri’s visionary leadership,” Koto declared, reflecting on the governor’s two years into his second term and six years in office. “His Excellency has transformed our state in every way, bringing development that touches all corners of Adamawa.”

Koto praised Fintiri, widely known as “Mr. Projects,” for his remarkable achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment. Signature projects like the Jimeta flyover and urban renewal initiatives have modernized Yola, while new roads and rural electrification have connected remote communities, boosting economic growth.

In education, Fintiri’s administration has set a regional benchmark, leading the Northeast in WAEC and NECO performance for three consecutive years, with over 65% of students securing five credits, including Mathematics and English.
Free education, fully funded exam fees, and new smart schools have been game-changers. In healthcare, new and renovated facilities, coupled with the State Health Insurance Scheme, provide free care to children under five, pregnant women, and the elderly, earning Adamawa top health rankings in the Northeast.

Koto highlighted Fintiri’s economic strides, including granting financial autonomy to local governments before it became a national policy.

The governor’s commitment to paying the new national minimum wage for state and local government workers, alongside ongoing recruitment through the Civil Service Commission, has restored dignity to the workforce. Programmes like the Fintiri Business Wallet have empowered thousands of youths and women, while agricultural support has uplifted farmers.
“Governor Fintiri has worked tirelessly to ensure peace and security, making Adamawa a safer place for all,” Koto added.
As ALGON Treasurer, he pledged that local government chairmen, as Fintiri’s “foot soldiers,” will replicate his people-focused governance at the grassroots. “We are inspired to follow his footsteps and deliver for our communities,” he said.
