A devastating attack has struck Gyenbwas community in Langai district, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state, leaving a trail of destruction and death. According to reports, 96 houses were burnt, and valuables including food, mattresses, cattle, and other essential items were looted.
The traditional ruler of Langai, Alhaji Yakubu Umar, confirmed that three people have lost their lives in the incident, with two bodies recovered on Monday and another on Tuesday. The community has accused the Berom ethnic group of launching the attack, which the Berom Youth Mouders Association vehemently denies.
The association’s president, Dalyop Solomon, claimed that their members were actually the ones attacked and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital. He emphasized that their people have the right to defend themselves against such aggression.
The traditional ruler has called on the state government and Mangu LGA to investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and provide aid to those who have lost their properties. The situation remains tense, with the community seeking answers and support.
