FIRS: Tax pro-Max App for tax clearance is not working-Taxpayer laments

A Taxpayer, Alhaji Abdulkarim Garba Garu has lamented the poor implementation of the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) TaxPro Max, an application system that was installed to solve problems of tax clearance, payments, and getting certificates with a click.

Garu, who said he owned a multi-million naira company in Kano and has never avoided or invaded paying tax said FIRS has not done its homework of Public Enlightenment, massive campaign on the new application.

He said aside from the general public engagement, he worried that taxpayers who are critical stakeholders in the use of the application are ought to have been given massively enlightened and train on the use of the new application.

Garu rather alleged that the Tax auditors are extorting taxpayers’ ignorance of the use of the TaxPro Max, using that to defraud them.

While calling on FIRS to train Taxpayers on how to use the new applications very well, he worried that Tax auditors find ignorance of how to use the Application by payers as a lucrative means of extorting them.

According to him the requisite knowledge needed by Taxpayers to use the application is huge which is subjecting them to always visit their office to sort pending issues and at the end of the day, the tax auditors will extort them.

He called on massive Public awareness, campaign and training to be carried out because the claims of Tax clearance are done in the comfort zone of taxpayers by FIRS is just a mere propaganda not result oriented.

“Tax Clearance Certificate, Now Available In “One Click” is should be an involvement of all relevant and critical stakeholders, including the taxpayer to have an effective result.” Garu said
