Heavy downpour has submerged hundreds of houses in Gumi town; the Headquarters of Gumi local government area, rendering thousands of people homeless.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ssni Takori decried the calamity that befalled the inhabitants.
He appealed for action from the state and federal government to advert future occurrence of the disaster.
The Zamfara state Governor Dauda Lawal commiserated with victims of flood.
He expressed deep concern over the calamlty and sympathy for the Gummi flood victims.
“I received sad news about the flooding in some parts of the Gumi town, this is distressing, and my thoughts are with everyone affected” , he added
Government is committed to take all necessary measures to prevent future occurrences
Governor Lawal said already, relevant authorities have been contacted as well as leaders, and elders in the local government area since the unfortunate incident.
“I immediately sent a delegation from the Zamfara State Government to the local government to assess the situation and provide immediate relief support to the victims”,he declared
He stressed that the state government is committed to take all necessary measures to prevent future occurrences of such sad incidents.
