Former Minister, Ex-Adamawa Governor’s Wife Dumps PDP for ADC, Slams Tinubu’s APC for Nigeria’s Woes

In a stunning political shift, Mrs. Zainab Boni Haruna, wife of a former Adamawa State governor, has abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The announcement came during a vibrant meeting with ADC women and youth supporters at Zadiah Guest Inn in Damaturu on Sunday.

Haruna delivered a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC), holding the ruling party responsible for Nigeria’s escalating insecurity, economic hardship, corruption, and poor leadership.

“People are suffering, hunger is too much in the land,” she declared, resonating with the frustrations of many Nigerians grappling with rising living costs and instability.

Explaining her defection, Haruna expressed confidence in the ADC’s potential to challenge the APC in the 2027 general elections.

“I have decided to join the coalition ADC with my political mentor Adamu Waziri, which I believe has the power, strength, resources, and political will to tackle the APC,” she said. Her decision follows consultations with Waziri, a former Minister of Police Affairs and PDP Board of Trustees member, who provided critical political guidance.

Haruna also highlighted the ongoing crisis within the PDP, predicting that the party’s internal conflicts are unlikely to be resolved, prompting her and others to leave in droves. “Let me tell you the truth. Before I decided to dump my party, PDP, I went to Adamu Waziri’s house to seek political advice,” she revealed.

Addressing the ADC’s women and youth wings, Haruna urged them to mobilize for the 2027 elections, emphasizing their pivotal role in securing victory. “The party cannot afford to lose to the PDP in the forthcoming elections,” she warned, calling for greater participation from women and youths to bolster the ADC’s campaign.

Her defection signals a growing realignment in Nigeria’s political landscape as opposition parties gear up to challenge the APC’s dominance in the upcoming elections.
