Free Medical Outreach Records Massive Turnout at Specialist Hospital Yola

A large crowd of residents on Monday besieged the Specialist Hospital, Yola, for the Phase II Free Medical Outreach organised by Senator Aminu Iya Abbas (Adamawa Central) in collaboration with the Iya Abbas Foundation and the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA).

The outreach, which forms part of the senator’s health intervention initiatives, offered free medical consultations, screening, treatment and surgical services to members of the public in line with the categories outlined on the programme banner at the venue.

Medical services provided included malaria testing, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, hepatitis screening, eye tests, RVD screening, health education, typhoid tests, as well as hepatitis B and C screening.

The programme also featured free general surgeries, covering cases such as hernia, hydrocele, appendix, goitre, fibroids, dental procedures, ovarian cysts, breast lumps, eye-related conditions and caesarean-related cases, among others.

The medical outreach is scheduled to extend to Yola North, Yola South and Song Local Government Areas, with specific dates and venues mapped out to ensure broader access to quality healthcare services for residents.

TGNews reports that the event attracted a wide range of beneficiaries, including men, women, elderly persons and children, many of whom were issued medical cards and documents while awaiting medical attention.

Medical personnel and volunteers were deployed to ensure smooth coordination, crowd control and effective service delivery, as activities commenced early in the day.

Beneficiaries commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly for low income earners and vulnerable groups who often face challenges in accessing affordable healthcare.

The free medical outreach is expected to continue in other designated locations as part of ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare delivery across the Adamawa Central Senatorial District.
