Atiku’s loyalist’s House marks for demolition: Sen Abbo Slams Fintiri’s Commissioner, says he should be punished for ‘Petty Vendetta’, ‘Flagrant Abuse of Power’

The planned demolition of Atiku Abubakar supporter in Adamawa state have brought instant rebuke amd reprimand from Senator Ishaku Abbo ( SIA) who called on the Governor to sack his Commissioner of Environment, Mr Bala Mohammed Sadiq Kalu for sowing a bitter seed of discord in Adamawa state which according to him it will consume every one.

Senator Abbo who said that the planned demolition was intended to tarnish political name of Fintiri by people who doesn’t love him and therefore told the governor to save his name from destruction.

Senator Abbo know for his vocal views and standing up for justice argued that even though he and Fintiri are political opponents, he doesn’t want to see his name destroyed.

It will be recalled that a Facebook post by the Commissioner for Environment against Hon. Umar brought response from him that led to a full social media war. As a result the Commissioner authorized the marking of Umar house for demolition that the house will be used as refuse depot and waste management site and act that have brought sharp rebuke from civil society organizations, political heavy weights including Senator Ishaku Abbo

The political firestorm that has erupted in Adamawa State has pushed Senator Elisha Abbo, a key ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accuses Mohammed Sadiq Kalu, the state’s Commissioner the Environment, of abusing his authority by marking the home of Hon. Umar Jada for demolition.

Jada, a prominent supporter of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri during the 2023 elections, faces the loss of his 20-year-old residence, allegedly to make way for a refuse dump site.

In a scathing rebuke, Abbo has called on Fintiri to discipline his commissioner and safeguard his administration’s legacy from being tainted by what he describes as the impulsive actions of “small men” with power.

The controversy follows a heated dispute last week between Jada and Kalu, rooted in post-election tensions. Despite Jada’s loyalty to Fintiri during the 2023 campaign, the disagreement with Kalu escalated, culminating in the commissioner’s decision to mark Jada’s long-standing home for demolition.

The stated plan to convert the site into a waste management facility has sparked outrage, with critics, including Abbo, labeling it a politically motivated act of retribution.

In a widely circulated statement, Abbo condemned Kalu’s move as a flagrant abuse of power. “What an abuse of power by a very small man. How many houses will he demolish in the next one year?” he questioned, highlighting the commissioner’s alleged targeting of opposition figures.

Abbo, who claims to have endured relentless insults from Fintiri’s supporters—including attacks on his late mother—emphasized his own restraint and forgiveness as a mark of true leadership. “Big men are tolerant,” he said, urging Kalu to “wait till he becomes governor” before wielding such authority against political rivals.

Addressing Governor Fintiri directly, Abbo praised the governor’s achievements, noting his rise from humble beginnings to a respected leader.

“I have watched you grow in the last few years, and you have done well to focus on the areas you choose as your legacy,” Abbo said, commending Fintiri’s conviction and governance.

However, he warned that the actions of appointees like Kalu risk tarnishing the administration’s reputation for tolerance and progress.

“Sir, this is your government, this is your legacy. Don’t allow small people to tarnish your regime as intolerant and impulsive. It’s your name, not theirs,” Abbo pleaded.

He expressed concern that such actions could sow discord, predicting that “this seed sown today in your regime will grow to become a big tree with bad bitter fruits that all of us will eat from.”

He cautioned that allowing such actions to go unchecked could erode public trust in the administration and embolden further abuses. “Don’t allow people with no name but using their fathers’ name to destroy your name,” he advised Fintiri, urging the governor to ensure his appointees act with integrity.

The marking of Hon. Umar Jada’s home for demolition has thrust Adamawa into a political crisis, with Senator Elisha Abbo accusing Commissioner Mohammed Sadiq Kalu of abusing his authority in a petty vendetta.
