The Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi (FUAMB) on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, formally admitted 599 fresh students into its academic community during its second matriculation ceremony held at the Sali Isa Bello Event Centre in Mubi.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Bitrus Dawi Tarfa charged the new students to embrace the university’s core vision of smart agriculture, innovation, discipline and hands-on practical learning.
He described punctuality, dedication and strict adherence to institutional rules as non-negotiable ingredients for both academic excellence and personal character development.
Prof. Tarfa used the occasion to make a passionate appeal to the Adamawa State Government and other public-spirited individuals to immediately reconstruct the dilapidated access road leading to the university’s permanent site at Mayo-Bani in Mubi North Local Government Area.
He said the poor state of the road is currently hindering smooth vehicular movement to the institution and urgently needs attention to support the university’s growth.
Earlier, University Registrar Mrs. Fatima Saidu Bashir welcomed the matriculants, their parents and guests, urging the new students to remain disciplined and to become worthy ambassadors of FUAMB by strictly observing the university’s rules and regulations.
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Rukaiyatu Abdulkarim Gurin, mni, commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa for their continued support to emerging universities.
She also expressed appreciation to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the host community for their cooperation.
The Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. David Finchiwa Jatau, described FUAMB as a strategic institution that will drive agricultural transformation across the state and the country.
He encouraged indigenes of Adamawa to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the university.
Vice-Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Prof. Augustine Clement, reinforced the message of discipline and academic commitment, while commending the FUAMB management for a well-organised ceremony.
Royal blessings and prayers for the university’s continued progress came from the Emir of Mubi, Alh. Dr. Abubakar Isa Ahmadu CFR, who was represented by Alhaji Abubakar Mahmud Wambai, the Madakin Mubi. The Emir urged the students to remain focused on acquiring both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The colourful event attracted the university’s principal officers, deans, directors, heads of departments, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, parents, representatives of sister institutions, public office holders and other distinguished guests.
