Fuji Star K1 De Ultimate Denies Misconduct in Abuja Airport Fiasco, Claims Victimhood

Veteran Fuji musician and known ally of President Bola Tinubu, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has vehemently denied allegations of unruly behavior during a boarding incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) accused the music icon of breaching aviation security protocols by attempting to board a ValueJet Airlines flight (VK 201) to Lagos with a prohibited liquid, later identified as alcohol, and spilling it on an airline official.

However, K1 insists he was the victim, not the aggressor, in the altercation, despite emerging video evidence suggesting otherwise.

‎The incident, which led to the suspension of two ValueJet pilots by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for breaching safety protocols, has sparked widespread controversy.

The situation escalated when he reportedly moved to the front of the aircraft, refusing to vacate despite repeated requests, leading to his removal by FAAN’s Aviation Security (AVSEC) crime unit for questioning. He was later released.

‎In a statement issued by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, K1 refuted FAAN’s claims, calling them “exaggerated and misleading.” He insisted the liquid in question was “nothing more than plain drinking water” provided to him at the airport lounge, not alcohol, and that he attempted to clarify this respectfully.

“At no point did K1 act in a manner that endangered lives or breached safety regulations,” the statement read, adding that claims of him obstructing the aircraft were “completely unfounded.” K1’s camp further argued that the involvement of high-ranking officials, including the Head of Airport Security, FAAN, NCAA, and ValueJet’s Chairman and Managing Director—who reportedly apologized and offered a complimentary private jet to Lagos, which K1 declined—proved he was unfairly targeted.

‎However, video footage circulating on social media platforms appears to contradict K1’s narrative, showing a heated exchange between the musician and airline staff, with liquid being spilled during the confrontation.

Eyewitnesses described K1’s behavior as “thuggish” and “entitled,” with one source alleging he threatened to “deal with” a female pilot, citing his connections to the presidency. “He poured water on the female pilot and threatened to deal with her because he knows the president,” a witness told SaharaReporters.

‎The NCAA’s suspension of the pilots involved has drawn further scrutiny, with K1’s statement hinting that the pilot may be attempting to “deflect blame” to cover her own lapses.

‎K1, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s Fuji music scene and a vocal supporter of President Tinubu, has a history of close ties with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

His relationship with the president, whom he described as a “big brother” in a recent interview, has added a political dimension to the controversy, with critics questioning whether his status influenced the apologies and private jet offer from airline officials.
