The Federal University of Kashere (FUK) has extended a formal invitation to the general public for the official launch of a book celebrating the remarkable legacy of its immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Umaru A. Pate (Kaigamma of Adamawa).

The book, titled “Umaru A. Pate: An Icon of Visionary Leadership, Knowledge, Transformation and Impactful Change”, honours the distinguished media scholar and administrator for his outstanding contributions to academic excellence, institutional development, and transformative leadership during his five-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor.
In a letter dated 13th April, 2026, signed by Prof. Olusola W. Olu-Aderounmu, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, the university community expressed pride in Professor Pate’s achievements.
Prof. Pate concluded his tenure in February 2026, leaving behind a legacy of massive infrastructure development, academic expansion, and sound financial management at the Gombe State-based institution.
The invitation reads in part: “On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff, and Students of the Federal University of Kashere, I am pleased to invite you to the official launch of this landmark publication, which celebrates Professor Pate’s outstanding contributions to academic excellence, institutional development, and transformative leadership.”
The event will hold on Thursday, 23rd April 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Idris Abdulkadir Auditorium, National Universities Commission (NUC) Secretariat, Abuja.
The event is expected to attract members of the academic community, government officials, traditional rulers, media practitioners, and other distinguished guests. Prominent media houses, including TGNews, will provide live coverage.
“Your presence at this important occasion will be a great honour and a source of inspiration, not only to the celebrant but also to the entire academic community,” the Pro-Chancellor stated, urging invitees to attend and lend further prestige to the historic event.
Professor Umaru A. Pate, a renowned professor of media history and communication, is a former Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies at Bayero University Kano and President of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN).
His tenure at FUK was widely praised for driving significant growth in academics, research, student welfare, and infrastructure.
The book launch serves as a fitting tribute to a scholar-administrator whose impact continues to shape the future of the Federal University of Kashere.
Members of the public, especially stakeholders in the education sector, are warmly invited to grace the occasion.
