The Federal University of Kashere (FUK) is preparing for a historic milestone as it gears up to commission the College of Medical Sciences and other landmark projects on Saturday, July 5, 2025, during its 6th to 9th combined convocation ceremonies.

FUK under the able leadership of Dr Umar Pate, the world renowned Professor of Multi media and mass communication. Has in recent times the institution is experiencing massive infrastructural development, a turn around that is best to be described as a cut edged pedestal area of higher learning in North East Nigeria.
Pate since his inception as the VC introduced new courses and expanded the school visibility in the world thereby graduating post graduate students (including PhDs) and thousands of under graduate in different fields.
The announcement was made by Professor Abubakar Alhaji Bakari, a renowned Professor of Surgery and Provost of the College, in an exclusive interview with Tgnews.
Scheduled from July 1 to July 5, the convocation will celebrate the achievements of the 6th to 9th graduating sets, featuring the award of diplomas, degrees, prizes, and the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees.
The College of Medical Sciences, a key addition to FUK’s infrastructure, will be officially unveiled at 1:00 PM in the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall, signaling a significant leap forward in medical education and healthcare delivery in the region.

Professor Bakari expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “The College of Medical Sciences is poised to train the next generation of medical professionals, addressing critical healthcare needs in Nigeria.”
The commissioning will be a highlight of a broader ceremony that includes the award of higher degrees and honorary doctorates, reflecting FUK’s dedication to academic excellence under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Umaru A. Pate.
The week-long festivities begin with a press briefing on July 1 at 2:00 PM, followed by a convocation alumni lecture on entrepreneurship and service learning on July 3.
The main investiture of undergraduate and combined convocation ceremonies will occur from July 4 to 5, culminating in the project commissioning.
Evolution of Medical Sciences: Past, Present, and Future
A notable event on July 4 includes a lecture titled “Evolution of Medical Sciences: Past, Present, and Future,” delivered by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, and Senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District, Sarkin Yakin Gombe.
An exhibition will also run from July 3 to 4 at the Entrepreneurship and Service Learning Centre Auditorium.
As FUK prepares to showcase these transformative initiatives, the College of Medical Sciences emerges as a beacon of progress, poised to enhance the university’s reputation and significantly contribute to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
